Happy Birthday Tucker/Sarah!!!

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you...Happy Birthday Dear Tucker, Happy Birthday to you!!!!!!!!!!! (& Sarah)

Tucker is 4 years old today and exactly 10 years before that my daughter was born!!!  I guess to be a kid in this house, you need a corgi with a birthday on yours or the day after yours (Lance and my older daughter)!!  I always said if I ever had any more human children after my youngest was born, he/she would probably have an October birthday too, never dreamed I…

Veterinarian Help

We're about to get our pup in November, and I'm trying to sort things out before our sweet pup gets here. We'll be moving to the North Addision area and I wanted to know if anyone was from around there that could recommend a good veterinarian from there or close to there.

The vet we used to visit is a sad place especially for my hubby. :( We had lost a kitten there...…

Help end puppy mills!

I just got this tonight from our local humane society and thought I needed to pass this on. Even if a few write letters it may help some corgis live better lives!

Cheryl,

For

decades, unscrupulous pet dealers have imported thousands of young, often

unweaned and unvaccinated puppies…

wonderful weekend

Well Saturday night Ace and I spent the night at my Sis-in-law's new place. Lil guy had so much fun playing with my brothers pittbull, Old Scrappy couldnt believe how much fun he had missed out on playing with Ace since they moved out a year ago :) they made up.. slept on the same bed, etc.. all the old things they used to do together :) they even played chase outside.

Looking at Scrappy and living with him for how many years i had.. makes me so Angry over the hate and judgement people…

Would a corgi be a good match for my son

My son has Meneiers Disease which is combined with hearing loss.  The Meneiers Disease causes episodes of severe vertigo that can last anywhere from a few seconds to weeks at a time.  There is no known cause or cure for him at this point and he is disabled.  He wants to get a corgi puppy as he has grown up with corgis in our home.  He is living on his own at this point and would love to have a corgi of his own for companionship but I am not sure this is the best dog for him. Can a corgi puppy… Continue

Health questions???

Our  younger Corgi who has never been very healthy, surviving an auto immune disease in her early years, now 7, blew up like a balloon with fluid in her belly , the vet couldnt see anything on xrays all a grey blur, they put her on meds to bring down swelling and pass fluids (somewhat uncontrollably), and to treat possible underlying infection, dropping from 42 lbs to 36 in 5 days

It was enough for the vet to do an ultrasound... Found nothing good. Liver heart and lungs all clear, but…

Parks & Gardens

My neighbors have been telling me for months that there's a dog park "just down the road" from where I live.  I've had mixed feelings about taking my dogs to a dog park.  I've heard so many horror stories about dog parks, from dogs snapping and attacking others to owners who just let their dogs do whatever they want.  I've heard plenty of happy stories, too, but the bad ones always seem to be the ones that stick with me.  Despite this, however, I felt that it was time to try to find this…

Possesive aggression

Latley i have been having problems with my 7 month old corgi. I have given him a large rawhide bone and normally he would have no problem with me having my feet near him and playing with him while he was chewing on his bone but the past couple days he has actually bitten me! he has never shown agressive behavior till now. I cant even walk by him without him nipping at me or snarling at me. He doesnt even have to be chewing on it to get all mad and start to snarl. He is very smart and…

Breeders vs "breeders"

When we get our puppy,  I am hoping to find someone who is a trustworthy breeder, and that the puppies have had great lives so far. We really want our first corgi to be very happy and healthy (as I'm sure many people hope for) and I am scared about finding a good breeder.

How do you know you can trust people? I wouldn't mind rescuing a puppy corgi from a - dare I say mill? But at the same time many puppies from these situations tend to be considered special needs dogs and…

Where are we this week, John?

I think I will just add some pictures of our weekend adventures and see if John Wolff can figure out where we were.  Two separate day hikes, total mileage about 16 miles, total elevation gain about 4000'.   Can you, John?

Time Flies When You're Having Fun

It has been a good month now since we've had Ace, and he has made a lot of progress with us. He's still quite aloof and will only wag his tail when he's A) seeing Mom & Dad for the first time in the morning, and B) herding the cats. I had a Basenji when growing up and even though she had that famous double curl tail, it still shook furiously whenever I did the high-pitched PUPPY! voice. Ace couldn't care less about what voice or funny moves I put on for him; he remains rather neutral to…

We're back

I want to thank everyone who answered questions.  I'm sure it was a bit confusing since my last post was that we had lost Corky.  So here's the backstory.  I had been on the list with The Animal Foundation in Las Vegas for a buddy for Corky.    On June 11, 2011, an itty-bitty tri-color came up for adoption.  We named him Butler because every time he hears a bell, he runs to the door.  He had been found on the street.  He's a sweet little boy who can't get enough petting.

In…

Another dog food question

My breeder was feeding the puppies Diamond Naturals small breed puppy food.  I was hoping to keep him on Diamond Naturals and also transition my Germans over to that food as well.  Question is, shouldn't I be feeding him Large Breed formula?  From everything I've read that seems to be the case.

Also... anyone have recommendations on good puppy treats?

Elbow problems

Has anyone experienced elbow problems with their corgis? Our little boy is having a horrible problem with his elbow.

BEWARE WHAT YOUR CORGI EATS AND DRINKS!

We almost lost our dear Joey last week due to vomiting and diarrhea.  He's an old guy and older dogs can go downhill very quickly when this happens.  Fortunately our doctor in Marina Del Rey California helped us over the phone with a diagnosis and a perscription for an antibiotic.  Joey has recovered completely!

But we believe his gastroenteritis was due to drinking pavement water that was sitting in the sun and had parasites.  Also Joey is a scavenger and will eat anything…
