Mae meeting a cat?

Mae has not been much around cats, but when she is around my sisters she goes after it. I do not know if it is play but she does not vocalize or growl its more of an attentive look. My fiance wants a cat and loves mae but we are worried about her not getting along. His mother who is a dog groomer said the best way is to throw them together and one of them would become the leader so to say.

can anyone give me ideas? She has never bit the cat nor growled but in a way tried to play and… Continue

Hardy is in the Doggie Hospital! Oh no!

I'd like to be witty and funny, but I don't have a funny way to convery my worry or saddness. I figure the best way to work through an emotion is to write, so blog I shall!

Yesterday was the first day back to work for teachers in our school district. I left the house at 7am, gave Hardy a pat on the behind and a kiss on the nose. He smiled his corgi smile and I know he was waiting for the invite to come with me since we were inseperable all summer.

Due to a variety of… Continue

Getting fixed today

Shiro is at the vet's right now, getting the operation done. It will be more complicated (and expensive) than a regular neuter because he's criptorchid, but we're prepared and just hoping for the best. He will be out today by 6pm and if everything goes well should be fully recovered in a week. It will be hard to keep him from playing and frapping but hopefully I can compensate with lots of home training.

The technitian also noticed that he had some staph infection on his belly and that… Continue

Bear Poisoned again!

Many of you may remember my dog Bear was poisoned with antifreeze in Feb. After two months on Dialysis at the University of Florida and $23,000.000 later she pulled thru. Tonight I let her out and she came in 5 minutes later with blue on her feet. I thought I was just being paranoid but I took her to the emergency vet which confirmed she has again been poisoned with antifreeze. They are starting the antidote now and tomorrow at 7am I will be headed back to USF and hopefully Dr. Bandt can save… Continue

The good times keep coming!

Well the past few weeks have had a fare share of ups and downs. We have placed Penny on a new, better quality food, and it has helped with her potty problems that we have been combating during the late night and early morning hours. Week two of classes has begun and she has already learned to sit with little effort. She has made plenty of new boyfriends of various breeds and seems to be an overall winner with our friends dogs.

Her behavior is both rather cute and peculiar. She loves… Continue

Puppies and the subsequent cleanliness

I am over the minor bout of new-pet blues that seems to always come with adjusting to having another puppy in the home (for me anyway).

Reagan just had his new shots and is adjusting wonderfully. He and Didi have become the best of friends. Didi is very gentle with him, though she does occasionally "yell" at him. She will let him have anything, the rawhides, the toys, her bed, her food, but if he comes within 3 feet of her kong toy she's infront of him with her best "Go Away" face on. I've… Continue

Growing Up Fast

I just wanted to give everyone a quick update on Lyla since it's been a while. She turned 7 months old yesterday and is getting so big! Over 17 pounds now! She is still lacking many "Corgi" traits I have been expecting to kick in any day. She is NOT food motivated, she doesn't even finish her meals most of them time, and when she does, she acts like it's a chore. Silly Corgi. She is also still really laid back and almost never rambunctious. When she's outside she is a hyper little dog, but as… Continue

So Tempting

I emailed the breeder I got Tucker from and asked her to keep my in mind if she has any tri females in upcoming litters. I figured maybe 6 months down the road I'd hear from her about it - but she has one now! She had only one tri in her recent litter of 8 and of course it's a female- and she's not spoken for. She'll be ready to go in 6-7 weeks. Not sure I'm ready for another one just yet.. I feel like things are pretty perfect the way they are with my cats/dog and I am afraid of upsetting the… Continue

Snuggle Puppy

On June 1st my hubby and I found out some very exciting news...we found out we were expecting our first child! Our due date is February 9th 2010. Once I hit about the 2 month mark of pregnancy Chloe started being a lot more cuddly with me. She was a little bit before the pregnancy, but now she seeks me out and stays near me for much longer than she used to. She's a little bit more mature now (her 1st birthday was May 21st) so I can't really tell if she's being more of a snuggle puppy because… Continue

Thank you!

To everyone who welcomed us, I just wanted to say thank you and I am very excited to be here! I hope to post pictures of Bella and her siblings soon. I was disappointed that we weren't able to attend the last Corgi meetup in Fort Collins and eagerly await the next one.

Dooley -- Two Week Update

Well, two weeks ago last night I brought Dooley to my home for fostering until placement in an adoption rescue. I can't believe I actually had to look at the calendar to see how long ago it was -- it feels as if he's been a part of my family all his life!

Of course there are little spats with the others, but they don't last long. Dooley rarely instigates or joins in when one of my others is in a bad mood. He'd rather walk away a few feet, turn around and smile! Poof! Situation… Continue

Tucker is 4 Today !

Our little man and best bud-bear has turned 4! It seems just like yesterday that we brought our little guy home. He has brought such laughs and love to our lives and we just can't imagine not having him around. So to our bud-bear, Tucker, may you have the happiest of days.

Here is Tucker celebrating with his favorite treat -- Ice Cream and a ride in the Jeep with the top down. (No worries fellow Corgi fans, the Jeep was parked when the picture was taken. Like could parents we strap… Continue

Dudley starts tracking

Another new endeavor! Well, not totally new. We did start tracking a little last year but weren't able to devote enough time to it so we dropped from the group. But this year we're committed. Maybe in more ways than one! We'd been tracking for a couple of weeks and I thought Dudley was doing well. But then we tracked with a group and things were totally different! My remedial student came out and showed himself! When we track alone, Dudley does very well. He usually goes right down the track… Continue

Astro is now 10 months old!

Hooray!

It has only been a few months since I brought this little fuzzy, hot dog-shaped bundle of joy (and trouble) home and it feels like he's been a part of the family forever already!

While he is well behaved most of the time, he has picked up a few vices (I blame my boyfriend's pit-shepherd mix), and one of them is. . . Dun dun dun! CHEWING. He has already gone through two or three pairs of shoes, a couch cushion, a comforter, a few spots in the rug, and the baseboards… Continue
