Her personality is flourishing!

Well, today is day 4 with Kara. It's so funny, the first 2 days she was so laid back I thought it was a miracle! Now she's developed into this little tazmanian devil, racing through the house and the yard like her nubby tail is on fire! She's quite the people "person". She always likes to be wherever we are, she follows us to the bathroom, the kitchen, you name it. We just love her so much! Potty training is going okay. She's only had I think 3 accidents inside in the 4 days. I think that is… Continue

how to care for your special corgi on a 'low' day

Hi,

Court went out this morning for a 20 minute or so walk, maybe a little more.

it's 3:15pm and it's been 6 hours since he was out...

he has a little goop coming out of one eye which is decreasing in amount,

he ate grass this morning (was at friends yest eve and ate some of her

dog's beneful), and has eaten no food otherwise.

an hour ago i stopped answering the phone, he looks at me to determine

why i'm not answering it (at least I think so). he's napping… Continue

Corgi Breeders near NH (MA, ME, VT)?

Thank you again to everyone with their support. It has been tremendously helpful during this heart-wrenching time. I am starting to get over the guilt, but am missing my little friend and the times we would spend together. I would like to find some breeders so that I may be able to share my love with another little corgi. I know she won't replace Corky and I wouldn't want her to, but I love taking care and being with them. I would give another the best home possible and all the love in the… Continue

First night and Lucy is home!

Picked up Lucy and drove home for 1 1/2 hours last night. She was a good girl and only whined a little. She had only been in the car once or twice going to the vet.

Spent the night in her crate in our bedroom and whined for about 10 minutes, then when she quieted down for a minute I sat on the floor with her and talked to her and petted her through the wire door. SHe fell asleep in the most uncomfortable position wtih her nose rammed up against the wire!

She did great… Continue

Updates!

So the dreaded thing has come to pass! Nothing bad, just Zephyr getting spayed. I had debated with myself LONG and HARD about whether I wanted to get it done, or breed her later. But I decided this is the more reasonable, responsible path. Not that I won't miss someday having itty bitty spotty corgi puppies.

Zephyr is recovering well, her incision looks terrible, but normal. If that makes any sense.

They had to pull her last two puppy fangs because the vet said they… Continue

Last set of shots!

I'm so excited that Suzy has now had her last set of shots! She can finally go for a dip in the pond as I know she's been dying to do every time we go for a walk. We're halfway through puppy training too, and she is starting to be a little less crazy around all the dogs there. The potty training has gone exceptionally well since I trained her to ring a bell by the door to go outside. I think the only thing I'm frustrated with is that she still uses her puppy teeth a little too much when playing… Continue

What was I thinking???

Hey everyone! I'm here again asking for advice. I volunteered to help a friend out and keep her puppy for her while she was on vacation this week. Actually, I'm using the term "volunteer" loosely. I didn't really volunteer so much as get roped into this task, but hey...I should learn to say no, so it's not my friend's fault really.

The pup is an 8 week old Tea Cup Chihuahua and Shih Tsu mix. They got her only a couple of weeks ago (barely 6 weeks old) and apparently she has not had to be… Continue

She's here!

We pickep up Penelope yesterday and she is great. She is so sweet loves to cuddle and give kisses. She did so well on the ride home which was 6+ hours. She was so ready to play when we got home and boy did she play, and try to bite everything. We have to watch her constantly. But, everything is going well so far. She is by herself right now which is making me nervous, but I'll be hom in about 45 minutes to see how she is. Hopefully, she is just chilling her crate! She goes to the vet today too.… Continue

Neuter neuter neuter! And other stuff.

Roscoe got neutered on Thursday. He just had to stay at the vet for the day (not overnight). My boyfriend dropped him off and I got him that evening. He was awake, but looked so drugged out. Like, he would focus on me, but I could tell he was so out of it. He slept on the way home, and made it outside to pee and potty fine that evening. Then he pretty much dropped for the night. It was the first time in a while I got to cuddle and hold him without him trying to play. He was back to normal… Continue

Corky has died :(

Yesterday afternoon, after only leaving the house for a short period of time, I found Corky on the flood. She had gotten into the trash and pulled out a snack bag which was caught over her head. I can't find the words to describe the pain and sadness I am feeling. I keep running over scenarios in my head about what I could have done, how I could have gotten home sonner, in order to prevent this from happening. I feel so guilty and like there is a hole in my heart. I love Corky and want to see… Continue

Puppy heaving...

Hi guys. I need some advice...

Daisy has been heaving at 4 a.m. every morning for the last 2 weeks. We went to the vet who said that sometimes puppies can get an upset stomach from being in the crate...I had just changed the food at the time, so we thought maybe it was just upsetting her. We have changed foods (Beneful to Iams), but she is still doing it!

Daisy goes to bed at 10:30, and we get up at 7. Sometimes she doesn't heave up anything; other times she hacks up puppy… Continue

Thor is Now Past Six Weeks, Only Two More Weeks Until He Comes Home

Thor has just past six weeks of age, and he has started eating puppy food and his ears are already up. The others ears are all somewhat floppy but his are already perked up and alert. I have a date for Thor to come home now, May 31, and I can't wait, less than two weeks and I can play with him more than once a week.

Sulley's first time in the water

So we took our little Sulley to Playa Pacifica Park on a visit to San Diego (we were searching for a new home), and adjacent to the park is an inlet. We walked Sulley over to the inlet. My husband then waded into the water and he was followed by Sulley who bounded in behind. Sulley was so excited and was swimming around in the water. We pulled him out as soon as I saw a jellyfish though (much to Sulley's dismay). I wasn't sure how he would take to the water but he loves it.

A day in Carlsbad

Today was such a beautiful day but too hot to go inland, so we took the dogs to the ocean town of Carlsbad instead. Carlsbad has a great downtown area that is nice to stroll around in and visit all kinds of shops. We walked along the ocean for awhile. It was beautiful and we met lots of dogs, even a cute corgi named Ein.

Here is Sid with his "mom" (my daughter) with our view of the ocean:…

Kara's first day with us!

Well, yesterday was May 16, 2008. The day Kara Jayne joined our family of 5. (7 if you count the cats). The older 2 kids headed off to school, the toddler to daycare and Chris and I made the 2 1/2 hour drive to Adams, NY where we met Kara, her 2 sisters, brother, and parents. They were all so wonderful. Chris and I got into the dog run to meet the puppies. They all came to meet us. After a few minutes Chris pointed down to a little fluff of fur that had sat onhis foot and fallena sleep. He… Continue

Picked up new pup (Turtle?)

Oh, i can't contain my excitement. Last night we picked up Steve's baby brother and we're just so excited. The pup's name is still TBD but we have top contenders - Derick, Tyler, Turtle. I agree, "Turtle" is a little out there but it just seems to fit this little guy - hmmm, maybe we can use it as a nickname for him.

The pup was born 2-25-08 and he was spoken for by someone else but something happened where she couldn't bring a puppy into her house. Since the breeder knew… Continue

Home-alone-pup retaliates with face biting!

I started back at work and was pleasantly suprised how well Cheez-it is handling the matter. He doesnt fuss when I leave and he is quiet when I come home. I leave him out all the time when I am home and even let him sleep outside the kennel now for his many puppy-naps. (which have decreased in frequency by 300% since 8wks). I try my best to wear him out before I leave and before he goes to bed, but he is "always" awake now. I imagine because he sleeps all day while I am gone. After the 5 hour… Continue

How Old to Go Up and Down Stairs?

How old should a corgi be before they will attempt steps safely? Our steps are wood or stone, no carpet.
