Lemmy and Pilot get a Sister today!!!

Yesterday I was approved all within 4 hours, and on the spot to be a foster mama for a high energy, little black lab mix named Viva. She will be here within the next 3 hours and I am so excited!

She was in a foster home already, but due to her high energy, she was to much for the foster parents 7 month old baby.

Well.... just so happens I managed to survive a Coonhound and a Corgi, I seem to have quiet the patients for high energy. So I looked at her picture, out of curiosity but…

Welcome home, Lola!

I must say, I thought I would have made this sooner, but new dogs really do make you wonder "where did all my time go?"

Brian and I brought Lola (formerly known as Sweet Pea to the lovely ladies at the Blue Moon Sanctuary in Camdenton, MO) home from her foster family on Friday last week. It was wonderful to get…

Looking for another corgi....

Now that is has been awhile since we lost Arthur, we're looking for another.  All of our pets have been rescued.  Breeders are nice we just can't afford that path.  We'd really like a dog young and healthy enough to play with our other corgi - Jake.

Who would shoot a corgi with a pellet or bb gun??

We had a little emergency trip to the vet last night after a wild frap session resulted in a hurt leg ;-<   Chewey was frapping through the house and out the backdoor just as someone was coming in and he bounced off the door and into some patio furniture.  I guess he must have caught his back leg along the way because he let out some blood-curdling cries for several minutes and then wouldn't put any weight on his leg...;-/p>

So, rather than second guess myself all…

Colorado Corgi Needs HOME

Friends have been fostering "PUMPKIN", a 7 y/o sable/white spayed F Corgi since her sister and hubby were transferred to Okinawa.  They found that they cannot move Pumpkin there and also face further deployments.  The foster folks have had the Corgi for nearly a year and can't do this much longer.  Colorado Corgi Rescue is very limited in its resources and facilities and can't accept any more dogs now.  Further there seems to be a shortage of DEMAND for Corgis here in the Colorado Springs…

Saying "hi" at Last

Hello All!

I've been lurking around this place for some time now, so I guess it's about time I introduced myself.

Corgis have been my favorite dogs since I was about 8 or 9 years old - sometime around when I began studying the dog breeds books at the library. I didn't actually meet a Corgi til a few years ago, but that just sealed the deal! Although I'm a total horse-crazy 25 year old (caught the obsession when I was 10 and am now training/showing…

Sir Winston Needs a Home

LeeLoo and I met Winston at the 9/3 Ohio Valley Pembroke Welsh Corgi rescue event.  He's a beautiful dog!  A little shy, but he came around just in the few hours we were with him.

This rescue is amazing to work with.  We live in Southern Indiana and even though our dog was originally in Ohio, we worked it out to meet half way in Kentucky.  Don't ever let distance get between you and the dog of your dreams!

BTW, LeeLoo is curled up between my legs asleep and snoring but I'm…

Corgi looking for a home

Hi everyone.

I received a call today from a family looking to re-home their 3 year old corgi.  His name is Max and he is a sable, neutered male.  He is UTD on shots, heart worm preventative and flea control.  According to the current owners, he is quite an active little guy who needs more time and activity than this family can give.  If you are interested, email me at cindi_g@comcast.net and I will share the contact information with you.

Male corgi on craigslist in VA 'free to good home'

Was browsing through craigslist the other day and came across an ad for a pembroke welsh corgi "free to good home" in the Richmond, VA area. The ad stated that the owners are moving and cant take their dog. It described that the corgi is older in age and also tested positive for heartworms..but is being treated "conservatively".There was a beautiful picture of a little red and white corgi. I don't know why.. but I gave the lady a call, just to inquire about her corgi and to see if she had…

He's home!

Tank came home on Friday and our new BIG corgi rescue is adapting well. Don't know if we'll change his name as he really is a Tank. He is wonderful! What even the rescue place didn't know till they started the paperwork was that this is Tank's 4th home and he's just over a year. The lady was sooooo sad but I know this will work for him:)… Continue

The Biggest Loser, Corgi Edition

When Ponyo was rescued from an animal hoarder, where she had been free fed and also given table scraps, she weighed 27lbs, which on her tiny frame was quite fat. The vet that her rescuers took her to determined that since she's actually a bit of a runt she should be around 20lbs. When she was delivered to us a couple weeks ago, she had lost about 3lbs. According to my oh-so-scientific method of holding her while standing on my bathroom scale, she is now at 20lbs(I'll refrain from letting you…

Foster needed in Minneapolis

So I was on Save-a-Dog today because my virtual foster corgi from California was adopted.  I was searching for a new corgi to virtually foster (Brady and I are still unemployed and our lives are still unstable so I cannot unfortunately foster in real life) and this loving face popped up. http://apps.facebook.com/save-a-dog/facebook/fosters/show/8415432

Crate training

Short post/update

Just wanted to let everyone know, We started crate training our 8 week old Oona the night we got her (Saturday 1-15-11), and tonight is the second night in a row she has "gone to bed" with zero crying/whining!

I don't think 4-5 nights is bad at all! I am proud of my little girl, proud of Nate and Myself for being strong in the face of puppy tears (the most heartwrenching sound I have ever had to endure), and proud of Roslyn for being such a…

A couple of things

First of all, I'm going to be starting up a blog soon on http://mydogisfunsized.blogspot.com .  Right now I'm working on making a background for it, and because it is called "My Dog is Fun Sized", I decided to go with the theme of dogs in chocolate bar wrappers costumes.  I thought it would be fun to come up with some corgi themed candy bar names to put on them. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.  These are the ones that I've…

The Watching, A Corgi Puppy's Christmas Surprise

This book is CorgiAid's new Christmas story for 2010! Some of you may remember the one that was produced last year and it was very successful, for which we are grateful. I am hoping that there is still time to order the book in time for Christmas for you all. If you go to www.corgiaid.org and look for the tab "The Watching" you can still order it and last year's story if you have not seen it yet. I am the author and I think this year's story is even…
