I assume everyone is aware that the Democratic Convention was held in Denver this week. You may not know that the puppies got in on the act. Our dog boutique was wise in ordering a bunch of fun political items before the convention, such as "Bark Obama" bandannas and the ever popular Bush Biscuits(crunch, crunch, he's gone), as well as things for "John McCanine" supporters so no one was left out. We had a very good week!
Banjo and Starbuck hung out on our the patio meeting and greeting,…

Hi all - I have a 10 month old female Corgi that was diagnosed with a bladder infection. No information was provided on how the infection started, but she is now on Clavamox. Being one with a history of baldder infections, I know the pain in her look… she stands on the grass and looks at me as if to say, just leave me here, I know I will need to go again soon! ;0( Has anyone had their dogs diagnosed with bladder infections? Does anyone know of any causes? Any other information shared is totally…

This doesn't have to do with my corgi...but I've been going thru some hard times lately as some of you know...It's been almost a month since my husband left me, after only being married for 2 months. Each day is a struggle for me...to get up, go to work, and go home to an empty house (minus my pets). We started marriage counseling last night, and I'm trying to stay positive about it, and all I know is if I didn't have my darling Abby, my life would be hell. She will not allow me to be sad. She…

We celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary with a road trip up to the Bay Area. We were hesistant about bringing the dogs because its such a long drive and we didn't know how they would handle it, but decided it wouldn't be the same without them and planned a trip to include them in the fun.
Fortunately, the dogs did great in the car... even on the hairpin turns of the PCH!! The trip up took 11 hours, but we made frequent stops to let them run around.…

How do I know when Ein is ready to go to a dog park? He still doesn't come reliably and I thought that was when you could take him to the park. But, I really want him to socialize more and I think it would be fun to go to a dog park.

Owen and I went to the park today. I think secretly he hoped to see his corgi friends again. I did to.. he let them clean him - smelly puppy with dirty ears.. nothing like an older dog to put a pup in his place with a good cleaning. Owen doesn't really smell that bad though.. I just thought it was hilarious to watch the three adult corgis go to town on him.
Owen got to play with a lab puppy and had a great time. It warms my heart every time he plays with another dog- proud mommy. He…

Well, I'll try to describe this the best I can. Ever since I got Abby, like every dog, she LOVES belly rubs and will kick her back legs when I hit a good spot. BUT...she ALSO will start to nibble on my arm, like those old cartoon characters would eat corn...ya know? I just want to start making that typewriter noise...*tick, tick, tick, tick, DING!* It doesn't hurt and I think it's the funniest quirk about her...she uses her front nubbly teeth and just nibbles in little rows on my arm back and…

First, a warning: this is LONG, so get comfy!
I am near tears over this right now.... I've already cried about it twice.
For those who have not read my profile: Two weeks ago we found a male corgi wandering around our neighborhood in the country. He had no tags of any kind, and appeared to have been dumped, because we noticed him just wandering around aimlessly without any supervision. We had seen him a few times before, and this was the case every time (wandering without…

I have a 5 1/2 month old Corgi named Chipper. He's the best!!! (which I'm sure everyone says about their corgi - haha). However, he sheds a LOT. He eats high-end puppy food (Eukenuba lamb & rice) and we brush him pretty frequently. It's usually his hind end and tail that shed the most but he's pretty sensitive - as in you can brush him for a few minutes with the wire brush but then he hates it. Any suggestions how to keep the shedding to a minimum?

So as I awoke from my morning nap I remembered that Didi had not been fed yet. I go to feed her and find myself scraping the bottom of her food-container. Yippees.
On my way to Petco, with Didi in co-pilot position, I stop at Starbucks for a tea. This is a drive through starbucks so all the Barristas came to lean out the window and go, "Aaaaww... puppy!". Didi sat in her co-pilot seat and regarded them with a silent dignity. This silent dignity flew out the window when one of the girls…

Well, we went and picked up Gibson this Saturday as planned :) He's the cutest puppy ever, I swear. And he's so incredibly smart. He's already learned 'come' and 'no' and he's only had *knock on wood* one accident in the house! Everything else has been outside :) And the first night he slept all the way through w/o whining once (today he needed to potty at 5am, but that's still pretty good for a little puppy, i'd say!). His favorite thing to do is run around the yard. He will follow me and my…

My hair dresser has two lovely corgis and when I went to go get my hair done on Saturday I brought Izzie along to play with Dorothy and Henry. Dorothy and Izzie spent the afternoon running around the shop and outside chasing each other and generally having a good time. She and Henry also get along real well but Dorothy kind of like to be an attention hog so she takes up Izzie's time. ;-) Sine Lily isn't much of a player, it's good to get Izzie out and playing with other doggies. I wanted to…

It seems that none of the puppies are fluffies! Even the little tri girl that I thought for sure was fluffy, turns out just long puppy coats.
I posted a new picture of Scooter one of the fluffy "suspects" and her coat is beginning to look more like the usual corgi puppy coat. So I ended up with 3 puppies with shorter coats and 3 puppies with longer coats and no fluffs. Always something interesting with corgi puppies.

Mac had a big day today. My Mom, Mac, and I went to the Huntington Beach Dog Beach. Mac splashed around in the water and made friends with several dogs, including another Corgi named Buddy. Later, we visited the Huntington Beach Dog Park to meet up with a group of other Corgi Owners. The Huntington Beach Corgis Meetup group meets every Sunday at about 10AM and later. I counted about 9 Corgis and 3-4 non-Corgis. During our stay some left and others came.
You can view pictures of the…

I was woken up today from Lola shaking the bed scratching herself. She was biting her paws like crazy, and she can't stop scratching her front legs. When she bites her front feet her back legs kick at the same time too. It was cute but I felt horrible for her because she was so itchy. I haven't changed her food and she is on flea medication, so I don't think she has bugs. So we took a trip to the pet store and got "Natural Care Veterinarian's Best Itch Relief Hot Spot Shampoo with tea tree oil…

We've had nowhere near the weather that those enduring Fay have experienced, but our weather has been pretty drizzly and awful. Poor Didi hasn't had a walk or a run or a dog park visit since last week. She's been telling us all about it with her barking, her increased frapping, and her constantly baiting the cats. Poor little thing.
I'm hoping I can get her down to the dogpark tomorrow or the day after. It's not so much that she gets muddy... she hates the water, it's that she gets…

George was neutered on Thursday and everything went great. We waited until George was six months old because we were waiting for his other testicle to descend. He acts like nothing happened and we are having a hard time keeping him quiet. Our vet told us to not let him be too active for awhile, but George thinks differently. We also had him microchipped.

Hub and I drove to Minneapolis to attend the state fair (the BEST in the US, in my humble opinion :)). We had a great time eating fried food, watching the raptor show, and seeing all the other cool things there. We made it to the pet center, where there was a variety of dog breeds on display. Sure enough, there were corgis among the 10 breeds represented--an older adult and a 6 mo old puppy. They were real crowd-pleasers, soaking up each and every pet that came their way! Behind them on the…
