The Journey to Becoming a Corgi Mom

I love being a Mom.  I'm a Mom to two beautiful little girls.  I'm a Mom to a cuddly American Eskimo Dog.  And I would love to be a Mom to a beautiful pembroke corgi puppy.  This, however, is proving to be much more difficult than I had anticipated.  The journey, so far, has been been filled with lots of ups and downs, but I've come close on three separate occasions.

I once found a breeder within a 3-hour drive that had just what I wanted: a female red/white puppy. …

Trigger needs our help! Please share.

From my friend Di:

We recently took 3 Pems from a mid-TN owner/back-yard breeder. Trigger, the oldest male, was intact and turned out (“light”) HW+. He’s been at our vet’s office in Greeneville, TN since we got him: has been vaccinated, neutered and had his HW treatment. He seemed to have a bad reaction to the HW treatment (swelling). On Thursday 5/12 he was in lot of pain and as of Friday 5/13, he is down in the rear and x-rays revealed a ruptured disk at…

Found: One "Chomper"

NOT what I needed at 10:30 on a worknight.

My husband took the Corgis out for a last pee at about 10:30 and up trotted a Pomeranian, loose, wearing a collar and tags.

Bad news is, the phone number is hand-written and we can't make out the last two digits.

Worse news is, Chomper is in an ex-pen in my kitchen and appears to bark like mad whenever I leave the room.  I can hardly blame him!  I'd be scared too.  And Chomper's barking makes the…

Our First Anniversary

I say a lot of things I never do.  I never got the Vespa I wanted and may never will.  I never took my sister mini-golfing like I promised.  I wanted to be a zookeeper, but I let my mother bully me into something else.   I said I was going to quit engineering, and I never did.  Hundreds of art projects go conceived, discussed, and unstarted.  My intentions for exercise never quite make it off the ground.  Owning and caring for a Corgi was a dream I always talked about but never really…

Goodness

We got a new member of the family today!

Meet Andrew Jackson!

He's our adorable new puppy! Now we have three!

Didi is ambivalent to the new puppy. Reagan is enamored with it but I have to watch him because sometimes when they play he gets too excited and I have to stop the play session so he doesn't get too over…

feeding times.

this is more of a general dog question not nessasarily corgi.   what time would you feed your dog if you worked 3-11pm?  I feed him about 8-9am and again at...???? say 2-220-pm or when I get home at 11pm? he is 7 months old and I just got him from a rescue..we are working on crate and house training(which so far zero accidents) only if they knew the quicker there trained the more freedom they have!!

Salmon too Rich in Fat??

Was reading thru the blogs this morning, too wet to garden, and noticed that a fellow corgi owner had Her corgi come down with colitis after trying some salmon-based kibble. That totally alarmed Me!!Our corgis eat Canidae no glutton/wheat salmon 40% protein kibble. It was recommended due to the dry coats and itching alot of corgi get. After being on the food for over a year,We've had no health issue (except Merlin's ccl surgeries when He hurt Himself) from either pup.Thought I'd

Knots on Corgi?

Hello!  Our corgi came to live with us nine days ago and he's a senior of nine.  He just completed heart worm treatment and was on bed rest for some time.  Upon reading his medical file, I noticed that a couple of weeks ago he had a large mass removed from his left side.  The area was closed with staples.  I noticed today that he has a large knot about the size of a golf ball on the same side.  He recently completed heart worm treatment and has had some residual side effects such as wheezing. … Continue

He's home!

Tank came home on Friday and our new BIG corgi rescue is adapting well. Don't know if we'll change his name as he really is a Tank. He is wonderful! What even the rescue place didn't know till they started the paperwork was that this is Tank's 4th home and he's just over a year. The lady was sooooo sad but I know this will work for him:)… Continue

Puppy Proofing and My Last Weekend Before the Furkid Arrives

Tomorrow, bank accounts duly fortified by paycheques, we're heading out to pick up a bunch of the supplies we're going to need to bring Ani (Anathema Device!) home. We're also puppy proofing the kitchen and much of the living room area, since the kitchen will be her first space in the house. We've read that while house training a dog, it's a good idea not to introduce them to too much at first, giving them a chance to adjust. This way, they aren't confronted with too many new rules all at…

Throw me in the tub!

I need to learn to take more pics/vids...

So last night I'm doin stuff in the bathroom & Bugsy keeps STARING at the tub. That "I want in!!" stare. Ok, here ya go bud! I toss him in the tub, shut the drain & run the tap. Wahoo! He could attack the water stream, bite the ripply water, & generally act silly. I let the water get "knee deep" & he splashed about & entertained himself for a good 10-15 min.

I think I need to get him a rubber…

My Good Boy

I just wanted to let everyone know how good my Baby Boy is doing in his obedience classes.  We are in the 4th week and he is so smart.  Of course I know that all Corgi's are smart and learn quickly and that makes me very proud of him every time we go to class.  The instructor asked me last week if Solomon has ever been "Shown", because he was doing exactly like he was performing in a show ring!  I was so proud when he said that.  My little "bad boy" was becoming…

A Day On Duty!

Well this person was stalking me in the street on day, when i was walking to the video shop wih goldie. Goldie protected me so well, as the man was pretty creepy.! She barked and everythingThere was a nearby police car, and the police came out and told the man to leave as they had been witnessing the man. they searched him and found a knife!!. I said to myself, Imagine if goldie wasnt there. And the police were very happy with goldie! With her warning calls, and her signs of aggression. She knew… Continue

Not so great at updating as much as I should, but an update of the Murphster anyway

Murphy is doing great. He still chases Stella though. I would have thought that she would have been old news to him by now, but such is not the case. Everyday he rips through the house, trying to get her, but she's too fast for him. I think she brings it on herself most of the time, she taunts him by making cute, pathetic sounds even when he's not around her. We say…

oversized tongue...

Not sure it's because Ritz is only 5 mths old but is it just me or do corgis have extra long tongues that they always seem to be sticking out? Not a sleep goes by without a 2 inch tongue doing a peekaboo. Hilarious!

Sage passed her CGC!

Sage did a great job tonight enjoying and passing each station on her test:)

We ran into old trainers who remembered Sage from former classes that were now testing her.

Sage now can take her three local tests for Therapy Dogs, Inc. and the local Puppy Love Therapy Dogs,…
