4 Weeks Old - The Pick

Today I picked out my puppy, Jackson, from my breeder. Unfortunately I had to choose from breeder pictures and personality descriptions. But, how can you really go wrong?

I went with my original heart-stealer named Tobias by the breeder. He is a very handsome sable with an outgoing and inquisitive personality. As most puppies are concerned, I think a lot of his personality will have to do with how he is raised and I am very excited to do so!!!!

Here are some face shots of… Continue

Our Life is About to be Turned Upside-Down (In a good way)!

Well, I have been searching Petfinder.com for an adult male corgi for a while now, and last week I found one that sounded perfect. Well, we went to my parent's house for the weekend and we were going to visit the shelter while we were there since it was closer to their house than to ours. Once we got to my parent's house, I was so excited to show my mom the picture on Petfinder, so I opened up the internet, but I was very upset to find that he had just been adopted that day.

I have… Continue

Little Stella is 6 months old today!

Stella turned 6 months old today, so I thought I'd write an update on her. She is growing every day and probably weighs around 17-18 pounds already! She is halfway through her first round of obedience-puppy kindergarten- and doing really well. She picks everything up really fast! She's my first Corgi and I just can't believe how smart they are! There's an agility class coming up, and I hope I can start her in some basics. She has so much energy and is… Continue

Snuggle Puppy

On June 1st my hubby and I found out some very exciting news...we found out we were expecting our first child! Our due date is February 9th 2010. Once I hit about the 2 month mark of pregnancy Chloe started being a lot more cuddly with me. She was a little bit before the pregnancy, but now she seeks me out and stays near me for much longer than she used to. She's a little bit more mature now (her 1st birthday was May 21st) so I can't really tell if she's being more of a snuggle puppy because… Continue

Billy lost his first tooth.

Billy is 4 months and he just lost his first tooth.

My boyfriend's friend, Garryn was holding Billy and had a bone in his hand that Billy was chewing on. I look over and see blood on his shirt and then a tooth....O_O I flipped out! I was overly emotional today and everything was making me upset. But my boyfriend, James, said he looked up info. on dogs loosing their teeth and calmed me down before I got mad at Garryn. I looked up more discussions on this topic on the site and I'm ready. I… Continue

Stella's Favorite Game-Herding Tennis Balls! (A good way to tire out your Corgi puppy)

So I thought I would post about Stella's new favorite game because it has not only been good for her, but also for me since it tires her out quickly! I used to play fetch with various toys and a tennis ball, and then one day I threw all of the tennis balls from the can for her to chase. She's hilarious because she goes crazy trying to herd them--she's like a little goalie! I play this with her on the deck since I only have a small yard that is not fenced in. I walk her a lot in the neighborhood… Continue

Thunderstorm!

Yesterday was Faye's first thunderstorm and she was so brave! I was at work for the beginning of it but my boyfriend said she jumped at the first one, then just went right along playing like nothing was wrong. When I got home I brought her down for a walk and she was so distracted, but eventually did her business. There was one loud clap of thunder that made her run around us in circles. Then she looked up at me with eyes that said "how am I supposed to feel?" When she saw how brave we were… Continue

Beating the City Heat

I think Faye is settling in just fine. She's picking up on potty training and she is so well behaved with strangers. She has a tenancy to bark when excited or to squeal like a raptor when she is less than happy but hopefully it's just puppy behavior that she will grow out of. We ignore her when shes being too vocal and she calms down pretty quickly.

The only thing is that I think she is hot and it's just going to get hotter going into August. She sleeps belly-up in front of a fan… Continue

Can't always keep his food down

Hey everyone. Milo's been doing great lately, as we're proud to announce, and is doing all he can to help us get ready for the move to Arizona!

The only problem he's been having lately is that he's getting sick and spitting up just enough to make me feel uncomfortable. Frequently it's just (and forgive me, i'm not trying to be gross, but as medically accurate as i can be) like spit; its clear and foamy. But occasionally he throws up his whole dinner or breakfast, and it's (again,… Continue

Sky vs. the Washing Machine

Its Thrusday afternoon. Sky is skipping through the house... Suddenly, he goes missing! I get worried thinking that maybe somone snuck into my house in the past 10 minutes and got him out and puppy-napped him! I check all his haunting grounds: the closet, under the green chair, behind the toilet, beneath the bed, all Sky free. I pull out dog food and pour some in his bowl and continue calling him. Nothing.

FINALLY, I go into the laundry room and there he is! Behind the washing… Continue

Loving Starbuck

Starbuck is 14 and a half weeks old, and she is the light of my life.

We took her yesterday to get her third puppy shots and rabies. She's a huge puppy at 10.6! Well, maybe she's not huge, but even though we've only had her for 6 weeks, we find ourselves talking about "when she was little." When we brought her home from the breeder, she was a whole 5.6... hence the "when she was little." She was great at the vet. She didn't cry at all. I gave her her treats, so no vomiting on the way… Continue

She's Home

Hey everyone! I brought Faye home yesterday and she is awesome. We love her so much. She was so good last night, after putting her to bed I brought her outside once at about 4am and she peed right away. What a smart little girl! Here's a clip from the loooong ride home. She got so sick and was really not doing well at first but then she relaxed and wound up sleeping most of the rest of the ride. The clip is from right before she cuddled up in my lap and passed out… Continue

Dexter's first puppy pop ended with a lesson.

Yesterday I made Dex a back of "puppy pops" with plain, unsweetened organic yogurt and peanut butter. I put them in small dixie cups and froze them, then gave him a small slice for good behavior (like for being well behaved on walks or outings, and for good work during a training session) He really likes it! I plan to only use these every now and then, and possibly after puppy training class when he starts. I also hope to reward him with one if he is good at the vet.

However, this… Continue

Glass in the yard?

My boyfriend just told me that Dex cut his mouth on some glass found in our back yard. Apparently the kids have been throwing glass in the yard ever since we got him. He said he is going to go talk to their parents. Stupid kids...

UPDATE:

Kid confessed and apologized. His mom wanted us to make him do work around our yard, but we decided against that. An apology and consideration to our pup was all we wanted. ^___^ Hopefully it doesn't happen again. Thanks for all the… Continue

Puppy videos

I created an account in Youtube to post Shiro's videos. I figured it's be a lot easier than to post the videos on all social networking sites that I am a member of.
If you would like to see them, here's the link
http://www.youtube.com/user/ShiroTheCorgi#play/all
My fave is the one where he rolls on the floor after bath. Shiro used to be very vocal back then. :)
Enjoy!

Ten Weeks!

Starbuck was ten weeks old yesterday. She got her second puppy shots. She was very nice to the vet... until they gave her a shot. She cried and cried, and it broke my heart! She has a slight ear infection, so they cleaned out her ears. She gets to have medicine for the next couple weeks. She hates it. When we were on our way to reward her with a snowcone, she threw up in the car... so we turned around and headed straight back to the vet. She got her temperature taken and took it like a champ!… Continue
